The optometry practice of Dunlap Vision has been in existence for over 50 years. Drs. Long & Dunlap was established in 2004 when Dr. Dunlap bought the practice from Dr. Joe Long, who purchased the practice from Dr. Russell Rogers in 1982. After Dr. Long retired in 2011, Dr. Dunlap brought Dr. Lisa Jeziorny to the team & the Dunlap Vision team was born.
After many years in practice, our office adheres to the same philosophy and goals. Dr. Brent Dunlap is the owner of Dunlap Vision. He is a board certified optometrist practicing comprehensive primary eye care in Bourbonnais, IL. He started his career as a full-time associate with Dr. Joseph Long in 2001 before purchasing the practice in 2004.
Dr. Dunlap graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2001. While at ICO he received training in all aspects of modern vision care through the Illinois Eye Institute. Clinical education included primary care, advanced care, low vision, pediatrics/binocular vision, and contact lenses.
As a fourth year student expanded skills were learned in an externship program. He spent time in Baltimore, MD at Omni Eye Care Specialists, a high volume disease and surgical referral center. He also worked at the VA Hospital in Huntington, WV for 3 months treating and managing eye disease. Back in Chicago he was educated at the Lighthouse for the Blind, Diecke Low Vision Center at the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago Children’s Vision Department.
His undergraduate studies were completed at Central College n Pella, IA where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in pre-optometry. He was a national qualifier, Academic All-American, and captain of the Dutch wrestling team.
Dr. Dunlap is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. Community involvement includes participation in the Kankakee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Kankakee. Dr. Dunlap’s wife, Jill, is also an optometrist and mother to their four children, Owen, Brenna, and twins Moira and Maggie.
Dr. Lisa Jeziorny is a board certified primary care optometrist. Dr. Jeziorny joined the Dunlap Vision team in 2011. She is a member of the American and Illinois Optometric Associations.
Dr. Jeziorny graduated with honors from Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the International Optometric honor society. While at ICO, Dr. Jeziorny received training in all aspects of vision care at the Illinois Eye Institute. Her clinical education included primary care, advanced care, low vision, pediatrics/binocular vision, and contact lenses. During her fourth year at ICO, Dr. Jeziorny also gained experience at off-site clinics like The Lighthouse for the Blind and The University of Chicago in the pediatric ophthalmology department.
Prior to graduate school, Dr. Jeziorny attended Lake Forest College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, while also participating in collegiate athletics as a three-time softball conference champion and an All-American handball player. It was during her tenure at Lake Forest that Dr. Jeziorny discovered her passion for vision and eye care.
Dr. Jeziorny was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and currently resides in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Greeting you with a smile when you come into the practice is certified paraoptometric Mari Kerouac, and certified paraoptometric assistants Amber Hastings and Lindsay Wigsmoen.
Mari has been on the Dunlap Vision team since 2005. Mari leads the front office. She’s adept at performing all of the pre-exam vision testing procedures including visual fields & fundus photography. Along with scheduling appointments for new and established patients as well as registering and collecting important health and vision data, Mari is responsible for patient billing and handles Medicare insurance claims. Other patient care includes contact lens training for new wearers.
Amber has been on the Dunlap Vision team since 2013. She handles pre-exam testing for patients as well as appointments, both walk in and phone and contact lens orders.
Lindsay has been on the Dunlap Vision team since 2013. She is responsible for chart preparation, pre-exam testing, making appointments and checking patients in and out of the practice.
Crystal Busse joined the staff of Dunlap Vision in 2007 as an Optometric Assistant. As a technician she is competent operating many of the instruments used in eye and vision testing. She assists in the optical department with patients with frame selection, dispensing of glasses and making adjustments. Crystal also handles billing the insurance claims with EyeMed and VSP.
The Dunlap Vision team has two certified paraoptometrics on staff, Sharon Perkins & Vickie Culkin who specialize in fitting your eyewear. They understand both the fashions aspect of your eyeglasses as well as the technical aspects of your prescription. They will guide you to the best frame choice for your personal style and the best lenses for your visual needs. We offer the latest technology in lenses such as custom designed no-line multifocals and lighter and thinner materials. Our new premium anti-reflective lenses are anti-scratch, anti-static and easy to keep clean.
Sharon celebrated 40 years with the practice in September 2013. During her employment Sharon has been involved in all departments of the practice. Her primary duties involve working with the lab to fulfill the eyeglass orders, office accounting & stock maintenance as well as assisting patients with adjustments and dispensing new glasses.
Vickie has been with the practice for over 30 years. Vickie is the lead dispensing optician for Dunlap Vision. She is responsible for assisting patients with frame selection, explaining new and useful lens options, checking in the glasses orders, and fitting and adjusting new eyewear for patients. Other patient care includes contact lens training for new wearers.
Drew Dunlap joined the Dunlap Vision team in 2013 as practice administrator. She is responsible for managing the Dunlap Vision Staff as well as assisting in all areas of the practice.
